Regular inhibitant and decision maker surveys

■  OMNIBUS – bimonthly inhabitant survey via in-home personal (CAPI) interviewing
■  TEENAGERS OMNIBUS - Teenagers tell survey via in-home personal (CAPI) interviewing
■  BUSINESS OMNIBUS - decision maker survey via telephone (CATI) interviewing

OMNIBUS  – bimonthly inhabitant survey via in-home personal (CAPI) interviewing

The survey is conducted twice a month on pre-scheduled dates. The nation-wide sample comprises 500 respondents aged 15-74, which is selected by multistage stratified sampling method to ensure the representativity of data towards the general population of the country. Larger samples can be obtained by merging data from several subsequent Omnibuses. Survey is done via in-home personal (CAPI) interviewing.

In order to reflect more precise by the division of Latvia inhabitants by age, gender, nationality, type of populated area and region, before data tabulation the sample has been weighted according to the data by Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia.

TEENAGERS OMNIBUS - Teenagers tell

Sample size of Omnibus survey Teenagers tell is 600 children and youth at age of 10 to 17 in Latvia. Survey is done via in-home personal (CAPI) interviewing.

Omnibus survey Teenagers tell is multi-theme and multi-client survey, hence scope of survey will be different on each occasion. However, there are several sections of questions that are included in each run of Omnibus survey:
■   Socio-demographical questions – age of respondent, gender, place of residence (capital/other cities/rural areas), size and type of family, language used in a family;
■   Income – amount of pocket-money, average income of household per family member in month;
■   Leisure time activities – extracurricular activities, visits to different amusement places;
■   Decision making process regarding purchase of different products – this question is asked regarding particular products/services included in each run of Omnibus survey.

Each client of Omnibus survey Teenagers tell receive free of charge information on respondents leisure time activities, personal and household income and socio-demographic parameters.

BUSINESS OMNIBUS

Since autumn 2004, TNS Latvia has been carrying out the Business Omnibus – a survey of higher-level managers of Latvian companies concerning use of mass media and information technologies in company operation, as well as various business-related issues.

TNS Latvia is organizing the Business Omnibus in 2010:

1. Spring period -  the survey is taking place in March and April, 2010, with results delivered in April and May
2. Outumn period - the survey is taking place in Outumn, 2010.

The Business Omnibus survey is carried out through phone interviews (CATI) with 1000 higher-level managers of Latvian companies. The study covers economically active companies of Latvia. Selection of companies is representative of the general group of Latvian companies (~55.000 companies), and information on companies will be available in the following sections:

■  Location (region)
■  Field of activity
■  Number of employees
■  Turnover 
■  Other sections agreed with the Customer

Media block

Once a year - in the Autumn period - Business Omnibus will study use of mass media in company operation. Media block will include information on:
■  Reading habits: daily newspapers and business press editions
■  Internet website visiting habits: company home pages, search engines, portals and vortals visited during the last 7 days 

IT block

Since 2004, use of information technologies (IT) by companies has been studied by the Business Omnibus (in every wave). IT block covers information on:
■   Use of computers in companies – number of desktop, portable computers, and servers
■   Use of the Internet – type of the Internet access and Internet service provider
■   Use of data transmition -  use of data transmition and service provider
